My channel includes Afrikan storytelling, song, drumming and movement. These are all elements of my daily work as a Teaching artist in various schools in my state of Arkansas as well as in many other states. Teaching hand drumming is a lot of fun for me. I like to combine the drumming with body and hand movements and that was how I composed and created the dynamic rhythm and movement called the 'drumballet.' It is a great winner with school children from the lower grades to high schoolers, as well as folks in camps or institutions. In 2008 my group of thirty-two youngsters presented to four US Presidents plus many members of Congress and one or two from the US Supreme Court.
The song 'Mama Africa, Sweet Motherland' is a fulfillment of a long-held dream to compose and perform a song that all Afrikans and others would enjoy, something anthem like.
